When Workers Shut the City Down.

In 1892, Black and white workers in New Orleans did something radical — they stood together. Led in part by Daniel Desdunes and the American Railway Union, the New Orleans General Strike became one of the first integrated labor strikes in American history. For three days, the city stopped. Their unity was a blueprint for solidarity that still resonates today.
